Literature Text

A screenwriter buys the cheapest cup of coffee the shop offers and sits down in a corner with their laptop. Occasionally staring out the window, they write. Surrounded by an ever-changing flow of sleek business people and college kids who spill the sugar all over and don’t clean it up, they write.

One day they might make it big. One day they’ll win an Oscar or a Tony or an Emmy and this will all have been worth it. It’s worth it now. They know. But, one day.

You write your soul onto the page. The story or the poem or the play could be about anything, but really it’s about your soul. Instead of tacking their heart on their sleeve it’s locked between their pages.

They’ll give their heart away to anyone who’ll have it. Most of the time no one wants it. So they’ll sit in the corner with their laptop and their coffee that they can’t really afford.

They might make it big one day.
